Hey friends!
This week’s episode of the Java with Jen Podcast was one of my absolute favorites. I got to sit down with Pastor Samuel, and let me tell you, it was a powerful conversation about the Holy Spirit’s unstoppable presence in our lives. I can’t wait to share some highlights with you!
The Holy Spirit is On the Move
We kicked things off by talking about something that’s been on my heart a lot lately: the unstoppable nature of the Holy Spirit. No matter what challenges we face, the Holy Spirit continues to move, and nothing can truly hinder His work. Pastor Samuel totally agreed—he’s such a busy guy (he had already done two or three podcasts that day!), but his passion for sharing God’s love and connecting with new audiences just radiates from him. That really inspired me.
Pastor Samuel’s Journey of Faith
One of the things that struck me most was hearing about Samuel’s personal journey of faith. Did you know that he was originally drawn to math and science, which actually made him question his faith at one point? (I had no idea!) But then, at just 12 years old, he received a prophetic word from a visitor at his church that completely shifted his life. From that moment on, prayer and faith became central to his walk with God.
He also shared this amazing story about feeling the Holy Spirit’s empowerment at an event where he broke the “unwritten rule” and mentioned Jesus. That simple act of faith opened up so many incredible conversations. It was a powerful reminder for me (and for all of us!) to be bold in sharing our faith, even when it feels risky.
Overcoming Struggles with Worship
Another topic we really dug into was how we can overcome spiritual struggles—and spoiler alert: worship is a huge part of it. Pastor Samuel reminded us that worship is not about our feelings but about the finished work of Christ. That’s such an important reminder, right? It’s so easy to let fear, doubt, or even our circumstances dictate how we worship, but Samuel’s encouragement was to shift our focus back to Jesus and what He’s already accomplished for us.
Fresh Oil and Holy Fire
One of the highlights of our conversation was hearing Samuel talk about his book, Fresh Oil, Holy Fire, New Wine. It’s all about the Holy Spirit’s role throughout biblical history and how we can experience fresh anointing in our everyday lives. If you’re like me and you’re always looking for ways to deepen your relationship with the Holy Spirit, you’re definitely going to want to grab a copy. We talked about how this kind of anointing isn’t just for the “super spiritual” moments—it’s something we can access daily through worship, prayer, and openness to the Holy Spirit.
Holy Spirit Encounters and Angelic Experiences
Oh, and I can’t forget to mention this—Pastor Samuel shared some absolutely jaw-dropping stories about his encounters with the Holy Spirit and even angels. One story was about a girl who started crying when she felt the Holy Spirit’s presence at McDonald’s (can you imagine?!). And there was another story where he prayed for his daughter who was seriously ill with Covid, and he literally felt the presence of God’s angels in the room. I was blown away by how real and tangible these experiences were for him.
The Holy Spirit as a Constant Companion
I think what I loved most about our conversation was hearing how both of us see the Holy Spirit as a friend. Not just this distant figure, but a close, daily companion who guides, comforts, and empowers us. Samuel said something that really stuck with me: “The Holy Spirit is not just a guarantee or seal, but a loving presence in our lives, reminding us of our worth.”
How beautiful is that? Knowing that we don’t have to do life on our own strength, but we have the most powerful spirit in the world as our friend. That’s a truth I hope we all hold onto!
What’s Next?
If you haven’t already, make sure to grab a copy of Samuel’s book, Fresh Oil, Holy Fire, New Wine. I honestly believe it could be life-changing for you. Maybe even consider starting a small group to read and discuss it together! Let’s press in for a deeper, more intimate relationship with the Holy Spirit.
And if you missed the episode, you can listen to it . I know you’ll be blessed by Pastor Samuel’s insights and personal stories. As always, I’d love to hear how the Holy Spirit is working in your life right now. Feel free to share in the comments or drop me a message!
Here’s to living a Holy Spirit-empowered life, friends!
